We’ve raised over £5000 for our nominated charities this year! On behalf of The Avalon Rose Chapel, deep gratitude to everyone who has attended our by-donation online events in 2020.

Thanks to your support, we were able to make the following donations to these charities:

Resurrection Rites: £2500 to Womankind Worldwide and their project with Ethiopian partner Siiqqee to further establish women-led cooperatives as a space for women to gain financial independence, new skills and increased confidence and status in the community.

Womankind Worldwide is particularly special to me as in 2009 they kindly provided me with the Women’s Rights statistics which feature at the front of my historical, witch-burning novel The Serpent’s Tale, which seeks to raise awareness around women’s rights issues that are still prevalent in our global society today.

Ascension Rites: £1200 + Mary Magdalene Feast Day: £670 = £1870 to Unseen – the UK’s foremost charity against Slavery and Human Trafficking, based in Bristol (the city closest to Glastonbury-Avalon).

Black Goddess Rites: £700 to Project Harar, whose Emergency Covid Response is distributing clean water & soap to vulnerable families in Ethiopia – the birthplace of the African Black Goddess who was the precursor to Inanna, Isis, Demeter, Diana, Cybele and eventually the Black Madonna.

This charity’s primary focus outside of the pandemic is to surgically treat Ethiopian children born with complex facial conditions like my son, many of whom have been ostracised by their communities.

You can donate to these 3 charities via The Avalon Rose Chapel JustGiving Team page.

Or if you donate to them via The Big Give before 12pm on 8 December, they’ll double your donation.

Along with the £10,700 raised by my son Zac for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, that’s a total of £15,770 raised for charity this year. Considering we spent 4 months of it in lockdown shielding Zac and I had to close the Chapel’s physical premises due to the pandemic, I’m pretty chuffed ?

We look forward to seeing you at our online events in 2021 and raising more funds!
