Today on 15 August we celebrate the Feast Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother. This is one of the most important dates in the Rose Lineage calendar and this year the energies are being amplified by Venus’s rebirth as the (still invisible) Evening Star and a Full Moon at 14:29 CEST here in Southern Italy.

The plot of my historical witch-burning novel The Serpent’s Tale is based around this Feast Day as it was the original festival of the Black Goddess Diana, which the Roman Church appropriated in order to try to convert pagan worshippers to Christianity.

Later, they included liturgy from a Mass to Holy Wisdom, thereby creating an unbroken link between the Black Goddess of the Rose Lineage embodied in Diana and the Black Madonna-Sophia-Mary-Magdalene.

Much has been written about the conflict that can arise when a Full Moon is opposite Venus, but I view the energies differently through the lens of the Rose Lineage tradition.

This is the day of the most ancient festival honouring the Black Goddess. Venus is still in the depths of the underworld, just beginning her slow ascent back as the Evening Star. And the Full Moon is shining Her light into this darkness so that we can honour our own Shadow Self, our own inner Black Goddess.

In the same way that the people carry the statue of the Black Madonna out of Her sanctuary into the streets to honour Her with their chants, dances and prayers, today we should bring out our own Dark Queen and honour Her.

Who is She? What does She look like? What does She embody for you? What has She survived? What wisdom does She hold? What is She bringing to the world?

“Nigra Sum Sed Formosa” – “I am Black and Beautiful”

We are all beautiful in the depths of the darkness of our Shadow Self for that is where our greatest wisdom, strength and gifts are born from the fires of our Soul’s sacrifice and suffering.

Allow the light of this Full Moon to illuminate and honour your inner Dark Goddess. She chose Her suffering because she is on a mission to rock the world. Celebrate Her today!

Last night, Alessandra, Sophia, Salvatore and I drummed and chanted to the Full Moon on the cliff top overlooking the ocean.

This morning, my blood Moon came 5 days early ON the Full Moon ON the most ancient Festival of the Black Goddess ON the pivotal day in my novel The Serpent’s Tale.

In the deepest of gratitude FOR IT ALL!
