Full WolfMoonBlessings
Full Wolf Moon Blessings – my favourite Moon of the year leading up to Imbolc (1 Feb), the Festival of Brigit, Brighde, Bride with her Wolf, and Candelora (2 Feb), which was founded on the Festa di Lupercus, dedicated to the Wolf God Lupercus and the Wolf Goddess Lupa.
My historical witch-burnings novel The Serpent’s Tale begins on the night of Candelora with the Wolf-Man Storyteller Luca explaining the original purpose of the Purification Rites to the villagers:
“Instead of celebrating the cleansing of the divine Mother following childbirth, the Festa di Lupercus served to reawaken our ancestors’ primal nature, which is at its most powerful when a woman gives birth.
“The filth that needs purging is not the blood of childbirth but the yoke of domestication.
“On this night, our peasant ancestors cast aside their fears and threw off their shackles of servitude.
“They ran with the wolves! They ran to freedom!”
On this Full Wolf Moon, ask your Soul, Source and Guides to show you where in your life you need to throw off your shackles.
What shadow thoughts, feelings, behaviours, memories, ways of working or relating, need to be released with a howl to the Full Moon so that you can truly set yourself free?
Imbolc is the time of the Wild Maiden who runs wild and free with her Wolf through the Enchanted Forest – where does your own Inner Child want to run to? How does she want to express herself? What does she want to create?
