Lastday ofPassover
Today, on the Last Day of Passover, I celebrate Miriam – Spiritual Leader, Priestess, Prophetess, Rebel, Midwife and Tambourino player, who led the women in singing, dancing and drumming to freedom as the Red Sea parted.
The Last Day of Passover commemorates the day the Israelites finally escaped slavery in Egypt through the parting of the Red Sea, and went on to settle in Canaan – a part of Rose Lineage history that we study during the Ancient Esoteric Judaism workshop of my Rose Priestess of Sophia-Magadalene Training.
The Jewish women were the saviours of their people during the very challenging years of slavery, led by Miriam who was known as one of the 3 great leaders for Israel.
One of the meanings of Miriam is “rebellion” from the root “meri”. Miriam was a courageous, rebellious leader who stood up to the Pharaoh against cruelty and injustice.
Once Moses and the men had sung their song of gratitude after their miraculous salvation through the parting of the Red Sea…
“Then Miriam the prophetess, sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dancing.” (Exodus 15:20)
The timbrel or tambourine has been played devotionally by women of the Rose Lineage since Ancient Sumeria, a tradition that is still alive in Southern Italy.
