What makesa true King?
A magical pilgrimage to Tintagel with its ruins of King Arthur’s Castle of the Pendragons.
On this Valentine’s Day, I find myself asking, “What makes a true King?”
This was one of the greatest gifts my disabled son Zac gave me.
During my pregnancy, I found myself acting out from that old place of an internalised, patriarchal belief system around the kind of son I was going to provide my husband with.
When Zac was born severely disabled, I had to move through feelings of “failure” that us mothers have experienced for centuries, imposed upon us by a patriarchal culture that only puts value upon the physically strong masculine warrior archetype.
Zac taught me that you don’t need to be physically strong and able-bodied to be a King.
A true King is born from life-times of surviving challenges that repeatedly forge his Soul’s sovereignty and strength from the fires of destruction and rebirth.
As a Spiritual Warrior, he embodies the Sacred Marriage within, being both strong of mind and kind in heart.
This Valentine’s Day, I honour the true Kings I am blessed to know and love, and I wait with excitement for the sleeping Kings of Avalon to reawaken. Can you feel them?
Gratitude to my beloved King, Alex Reyes-Ortiz, for this photo from our recent pilgrimage to Tintagel.
With Valentine Blessings from Avalon
